Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes are delighted to announce that their new Conductor and Musical Director will be Jon Hargreaves.
Jon has a wealth of experience, and the orchestra are looking forward to working with him. He has a doctorate, 'Music as Communication', from the University of York, and teaches for the Aldeburgh Young Musicians' Scheme, having previously worked as an Associate Lecturer at University of Kent.
Based between Glasgow and London, Jon co-directs the Octandre Ensemble, is Musical Director of Online Orchestra and of the London Medical Orchestra. He has also appeared as a guest conductor with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, and also with Glasgow's Rogue Orchestra, in recordings and performances. Aside from conducting, Jon often works on arranging and composition projects, having prepared scores for the likes of the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and BBC Concert Orchestras.
Jon's first engagement with the orchestra will be the Annual Concert in June. More details regarding this concert will be made available soon. Follow CPOF on Facebook and on Twitter for the latest updates.
CPOF wish Jon all the very best in his new role and hope that his stay at Carluke is a long and successful one.
The orchestra would also like to extend their thanks to Alex Abbott, who has filled the role on an interim basis since John Bryce retired from the role last summer. Most recently, Alex has been working hard with the orchestra in preparation for the SAFA Spring Contest, taking place in Troon on Saturday 13th May.
