Annual General Meeting 2017

The 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes took place on Sunday 8th January 2017 in the Carluke Lifestyles Centre.  


The minutes of the previous AGM and the balance sheet for the previous year were proposed and seconded. Commitee Members for the year ahead were also elected, as follows:

Change to Rehearsal Times

Note that as of August 2016 there will be a slight change to rehearsal times. The new time is 6.00pm until 9.00pm, still at Carluke Lifestyles Centre on a Sunday evening. 

36th Annual Concert Marks John Bryce's Retirement from Conducting

Last Friday saw Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes performing their 36th Annual Concert in Carluke Lifestyles Centre. In attendance were guests Provost Logan and Councillor Shearer.


The first selection of music included several famous classical dances such as Thunder and Lightening Polka by Strauss, Waltz No. 2 from Shotakovich’s Jazz Suite No. 2 and Philip Sparke’s A Klezmer Karnival.

Victory for Carluke at SAFA Spring Contest

Last Saturday saw Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes return to winning ways by winning the Scottish Flute Association's Scottish Open Spring Contest which was held in Troon Concert Hall.


The day began with an hours rehearsal in Carluke where the finishing touches were made before heading off to the contest.

Primrose Return to South Wishaw Parish Church

Last Sunday evening Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes performed in South Wishaw Parish Church.


This is the first time in a few years that the orchestra have been asked to perform in Wishaw and a large audience were entertained with a varied selection of music to cater for all tastes.

Glasgow Music Festival 2016

Last Sunday morning Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes again achieved another top three placing in the Glasgow Music Festival which was held in the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.


The Primrose competed in the Wind Band and Orchestra category and performed three pieces.

CPOF Ready to Perform at Glasgow Music Festival

This Sunday morning Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes will be performing in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall in the Glasgow Music Festival.


Over two full weeks the festival attracts around 7000 performers in music, speech, drama and dance. The Festival began in 1911 and over the years has developed into an event for groups of almost any size and description.
